Victor A. Afanador, a member of Lite, DePalma, Greenberg in Newark, NJ, handles litigation and trials of civil and criminal cases. His experience includes municipal tort liability defense, police related state and federal civil rights defense, condemnation and redevelopment law, complex commercial litigation, and criminal defense. In addition, Mr. Afanador served as Deputy Director of Law for the City of Perth Amboy from September 1999 through May of 2005. In that capacity, he provided counsel to the Mayor, the City Council, and City department directors on legal matters.
Mr. Afanador clerked for Judges Mathias E. Rodriguez and Frederick P. DeVesa, Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division Criminal Part, in Middlesex County from 1998-1999.
Mr. Afanador was appointed by the Essex County Executive in September of 2005 to serve as a Commissioner on the Essex County Board of Public Utilities. In addition, he is a 2003 Graduate of the Leadership Newark Fellowship Program and has served on the African Globe Theatreworks Board of Directors, a professional theater company based in Newark, New Jersey.
Mr. Afanador is an Emeritus member of Seton Hall Law Alumni Council.
