David Calviello is a Partner with Calcagni & Kanefsky located in Newark, NJ.  David uses his extensive experience to bear on internal and government investigations, complex litigation, employment disputed, and white collar criminal defense. Previously, David served as Chief of the Special Investigations Squad where he oversaw complex investigations and prosecutions including wiretap investigations, organized crime, murder for hire, and other criminal enterprises operating in and around Bergen County.

For over two decades, David has thrived in the courtroom trying a variety of criminal cases spanning from juvenile offenses to homicides. He has handled dozens of jury trials involving robberies, assaults, home invasions, and homicides. For over ten years, David tried dozens of sex crimes and child abuse matters arising out of the Special Victims Unit. Most recently, David tried to verdict a complex homicide case involving the killing of a two-month old baby boy at the hands of his father. In 2012, David was designated Human Trafficking Liaison to the Attorney General and in that capacity he was the primary assistant prosecutor handling human trafficking investigations in Bergen County. David is also a certified police instructor and trained Bergen County police recruits and in-service personnel on Courtroom Testimony and Human Trafficking.

David earned his J.D. degree from Seton Hall Law School. He continues to serve the law school on the Alumni Council as an Emeritus member. He is also a former member of the Executive Board and past Alumni Council President. After graduating law school, David served as a judicial law clerk for two Superior Court judges in the Passaic County - Criminal Part. Prior to law school, David received a B.A. degree in Politics from The Catholic University of America, in Washington, DC. He studied abroad in England and interned for a member of the British House of Commons in London. After college, David held positions with the U.S. Department of Justice - Office of Immigration Appeals and worked for a member of Congress in Washington, DC.

David is a proud alumnus of St. Mary High School in Rutherford, NJ, and serves on the school's Board of Directors.

David is married to his wife, Amanda, a Registered Nurse at The Valley Hospital, and together they raise three boys.
