"Find that path forward but be ready to switch things up." This combination of careful forethought and ability to quickly pivot and adapt to her new surroundings has helped guide Jennifer Levanchy '11 throughout her career in both law firm and in-house counsel positions. After graduating SHU Law and working at several law firms, including a women-owned boutique law firm specializing in employment law, Jennifer ultimately landed a position as General Counsel of Express Stores, one of T-Mobile's independent authorized retailers operating over 350 stores in 20 states. "As the first person in Express's in-house legal department, I had to get comfortable in a lot of different areas of law, and quickly, and recognize when I needed to engage experts in my roster of outside counsel" Jennifer shared. "I strongly believe that my education at Seton Hall Law helped me prepare for that challenge - the breadth of the course selection and quality of the professors in those classes helped provide me with the tools to give quality legal advice to Express in the midst of their hyper-growth mode during the COVID pandemic." Specifically, Jennifer fondly remembers the several classes she took with Professor Paula Franzese. "Her energy and enthusiasm in teaching the law helped spark in me the desire to practice law in the same way," Jennifer recalled.

In August of this year, Express Stores was acquired by GP Mobile and Jennifer and her team transitioned over. In her current role as Chief Legal Officer for GP Mobile, one of the largest T-Mobile retailers operating over 550 stores across 25 states, Jennifer enjoys most the opportunity to be involved in the decision-making process and seeing her legal advice implemented across the business. "In private practice, you provide legal advice, and you may not learn what happens after that. Being able to help my clients solve often complex problems and seeing my advice through to the end is definitely a rewarding part of my job." As CLO, Jennifer is also tasked with "issue spotting all the time and trying to keep up with the changing laws." "I went from being an employment law specialist, to now handling numerous areas of law, including M&A and commercial leasing." "Again, I feel that my course work at Seton Hall Law helped me prepare to serve as a 'jack-of-all-trades' while also providing quality, sound legal advice to my clients."

Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her 6-year-old twins (one boy and one girl), and she currently resides in Summit, NJ.
