Remembering How His Life Has Been Enriched
Larry Linton owes much to Seton Hall's School of Arts and Sciences, from which he graduated with a B.S. in biology in 1962 and an M.A. in 1964. Especially memorable for Larry was Nicholas DeProspo, Ph.D., Sc.D., who ran an intensive, inspiring and rewarding biology program. (Coincidentally, Professor De Prospo was also a member of the Benjamin Savage Society).
In 1962, Larry began his teaching career at Pascack Valley High School in Hillsdale, N.J., where he led the honors biology program for 32 years until his retirement. Many of his students went on to successful professions and still keep in touch.
When he thinks of Seton Hall, the word "inclusive" comes to mind. As a non-Catholic student, he always felt like part of the Seton Hall family. Naturally he cheered the Pirates to many victories as a student, a pastime he continues today by watching them on Fox Sports from his home in Florida.
Larry met his wife, Pat, on a Seton Hall alumni trip to Majorca in July 1970, and they have been happily married for nearly 50 years. While Pat is not a Seton Hall alumna, she attended the trip because her brother graduated from the University in 1969.
Larry and Pat have been contributing consistently to Seton Hall since they were married in 1971. "We feel it is important to help others achieve as fine an education as I was privileged to experience," Larry said.
"We continue to feel part of the Seton Hall family — especially thanks to the excellent communications that are sent to alumni," he said. "We read with much interest and enthusiasm the mailings that reach our home."
Recently, while revising their estate plans, Larry and Pat felt strongly that they wanted to include Seton Hall in appreciation for the many ways their lives have been enriched by the University. It's their way of saying thank you and Hazard Zet Forward!
