A Duty to Support Future Generations of Seton Hall Scholars
Dan Giovinetto '80 grew up in Westwood, NJ. The son of Alberto and Lilia Giovinetto, together with sister Adriana, the family immigrated to the United States from Buenos Aires, Argentina in the early 1960s to create a better life for themselves. Dan's father was educated in the Catholic educational system until grade 12, and was a professional photographer and business owner. His education, and later his military service, prepared him well for his life's journey. A new language to learn, a new culture to assimilate into, and many unanswered questions lay ahead. No challenge was too large or beyond reach. This resilience, determination, and positive attitude was ingrained into Dan at a very young age, as was the desire to obtain a superior education. Because of his parents' unwavering support and encouragement, he became the first in his family to earn a college degree and then went on to earn an M.B.A. from St. John's University. "My parents are true heroes to me," Dan observed.
He also offered the following reflection: "My decision to attend Seton Hall, and in
particular the Stillman School of Business, was the right decision. The training provided
was transformational in my life." After completing a long career with Johnson & Johnson
in corporate sales, sales management and marketing, he enjoys and takes advantage
of various volunteer opportunities available at the University, such as assisting
and mentoring students at career fairs; interacting with potential future Pirates
and their families at the annual Stillman Accepted Student Spring Event; and participating
in ongoing business undergraduate and M.B.A. assessment panels throughout the year.
"In addition, supporting our students via the Daniel A. Giovinetto Endowed Undergraduate
Scholarship Fund has brought me great joy," he says. "My planned gift will continue
to fund this scholarship and ensure access to a great education. It has been an honor
to meet our exceptional student scholars and to hear about their journey to Seton
Hall and beyond. Knowing that I am making a difference by supporting the next generation
of students in helping them reach their goals is a duty I take seriously and with
great passion."
