Support the Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute
The Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute was created through a generous gift from benefactors Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Carmen Ana Unanue. Built on a rich legacy of service to the Seton Hall University Latino community, the Unanue Latino Institute had its genesis as the Puerto Rican Institute in 1974. Back then and now, Catholic faith guides the Institute forward as the organization aims to fulfill two intertwined missions, that of scholarship and service.
As a center of Latino excellence at Seton Hall University and its surrounding community, the Institute's programs serve students throughout their higher education and professional career. The Institute's academic, cultural and community programs inspire, educate, and empower its students. The Institute encourages its students to be active members of their community, obtain on-campus leadership roles and embrace Latin America's rich culture and history.
Your gift to the Institute:
Supports students in their pursuit of higher education through awarding academic scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students. To date, the Institute has awarded $1.3 million in academic scholarships.
Sponsors student enrichment and cultural activities on and off-campus to increase student understanding of Latino heritage. Events include distinguished speakers, performances, films and trips.
Strengthens the programming the Institute can offer the Seton Hall University and surrounding community through professional development, at-risk youth outreach, and volunteerism.
