Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: a Day On, Not a Day Off.
In the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 20, we are challenging Pirates
throughout the world to give back in the spirit of Dr. King's vision of a “beloved
community” by serving your community through small and large acts. Here's how you
can get involved in the #MLKDay movement:
1. Find a volunteer opportunity. Click here to search volunteer opportunities in your area.
2. Organize a group of Setonians, family members, friends at a local volunteer organization
in your area
3. Start a donation drive (food, blankets, toys, etc.) and drop off at a local donation
center
4. Pay it forward and show a stranger a random act of kindness (leave a note of inspiration,
let the person behind you in line go before you, etc.)
5. Support our MLK Scholars, the oldest and most prestigious servant leadership program
at Seton Hall, below.
You may also partcipate in the MLK, Jr. Day Symposium on campus to reflect on the
role of the peacemaker to solve conflict and reach peaceful solutions. Click here for more information or to register.
Whatever you choose to do, make sure to share your acts of kindness or service with
us so that we may showcase our banded Pirate community coming together. Use #HallAlumni
and #MLKDay and tag @setonhallalumni to feature your photos of service/acts of kindness
throughout the day. You can also submit your photos by clicking here.
