James C. Adamczyk, B.A., '73

A Pirate with a passion for university tradition and values

Jim Adamczyk, '73

Like many of today's students, Jim Adamczyk, '73, was uncertain about what he wanted to do when he graduated. During sophomore year, he decided that studying communications with an emphasis on journalism was the best avenue for him.

Some of Jim's favorite memories include his dorm days in old Boland Hall and making new friends. He maintains close relationships with members of his graduating class, with the common thread being Seton Hall.

“When I sit back and assess the impact of the university on my life, it is considerable,” said Jim.

Jim credits his success at Seton Hall and his professional life to the influential faculty at Seton Hall. “With the assistance of several excellent professors, they helped navigate me into my career in journalism, public relations, and medical communications,” Jim said. “If not for that strong support and foundation to build upon, I would not have had the opportunity for such a satisfying career.”

Jim considers The Hall to be a university that is like a home. Its caring, student-oriented, hands-on learning environment is something he is proud to boast about as an alumnus. He's pleased to share with others that he graduated from Seton Hall because, in his words, it is met with “acceptance, recognition, and admiration” from others.

“The prestige of the university is respected for its character and a sense of strong work ethic. We are not the largest school in the state, but the principles put forth by the graduates of the university are well-documented and acclaimed.”

Considering his sentiments toward the university and fond memories of his learning experience, Jim felt compelled to leave behind Seton Hall in his estate plans.

“When I evaluated my financial options going forward, I wanted to make sure I would be able to acknowledge the things that are valuable to me, such as family, friends, and various causes and organizations,” Jim said. “When those evaluations came into focus, it was evident that Seton Hall was a prominent part of that group, and thus I found it fitting to include them in my gifting.”

With his planned gift to the university, Jim intends to create new opportunities that mirror his wonderful undergraduate experience in South Orange. He wants to give students a chance to attend a university steepened in deep tradition and values.
